Parkinson's disease management and therapy in Germany

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopamine-producing nerve cells in the substantia nigra. While tremors are a well-known symptom, the condition also manifests through muscle stiffness, slowed movement, balance issues, sleep disturbances, depression, and cognitive impairments.

In Germany, various approaches are being utilized to manage the disease. One notable initiative is ‘Ping Pong Parkinson’ (PPP), which uses table tennis to help patients maintain mobility. Additionally, medical professionals are exploring advanced treatments such as deep brain stimulation alongside traditional medication.

To support patients and caregivers, the Hephata-MVZ is hosting a seminar in Schwalmstadt-Treysa on September 1. Led by neurologist Dr. Sirous Javidi, the session will cover diagnosis, early detection, and various treatment options, including lifestyle adjustments such as nutrition and managing daily life with the condition.
