Paros beach bar owner and parents charged after 4-year-old boy drowns

A 4-year-old boy died after drowning in a beach bar pool in the Pounta area of Paros, Greece, on Saturday, August 8. The child was found unconscious in the water by two female customers, and a bartender subsequently pulled him from the pool. Despite resuscitation efforts by bystanders and medical personnel at the Paros Health Center, the child could not be revived.

Authorities have arrested the beach bar owner and the child's parents, charging all three with manslaughter by negligence. The investigation is focusing on why the child was left unsupervised; reports indicate the parents were at the establishment but in the sea, away from the pool. Additionally, investigators are examining the facility's safety measures, noting that the owner was the individual registered as the lifeguard for the site. The beach bar has remained closed as a mark of mourning.
