Greek police seize cocaine, cannabis and weapons in coordinated July busts

On July 15‑16, police across Greece carried out several operations that resulted in the arrest of dozens of suspects and the seizure of large quantities of illegal drugs and weapons.

In Lesvos, two 23‑year‑old men attempted to flee a police checkpoint by hijacking a police officer’s motorcycle. They were captured after a brief chase. Searches uncovered 544.9 g of cocaine, 309.4 g of cannabis, €2,730 in cash, a weapon and other equipment.

A separate raid in the southern suburbs of Athens (Glyfada and Voula) detained six individuals linked to a criminal organisation. Authorities seized 90.38 g of cocaine, 729.8 g of cannabis, a handgun with ammunition, a rifle, knives, anabolic tablets and electronic weighing scales, along with several vehicles used for transport.

In Mytilene, a 34‑year‑old was arrested, and investigators recovered about 6 g of cocaine in his possession, additional hidden packets containing roughly 5.5 g of cocaine, a precision scale, €175 and a mobile phone.

In Thessaloniki, police apprehended a suspect who possessed 330.1 g of cannabis, €5,550 in cash and a scale. Another operation in the city led to three arrests and the confiscation of 791.1 g of cocaine, 140.5 g of cannabis, two electronic scales and a camera.

These coordinated actions highlight an intensified effort by Greek law‑enforcement agencies to dismantle drug‑trafficking networks and disrupt the flow of narcotics and related weaponry within the country.
