Paros taxi driver fired after assaulting elderly employee

A taxi driver in Paros has been fired and faces charges of dangerous physical injury following a violent altercation with a 71-year-old car rental employee. The incident, which was captured on video and circulated widely on social media, reportedly began as a dispute over parking space usage at a taxi stand.

Witnesses and video footage show the driver grabbing the employee by the neck and throwing him against a vehicle. The employee, who sustained injuries to his face and body, also struck the driver with a helmet during the struggle. The victim has filed a complaint, and authorities have ordered a forensic medical examination to document the severity of the injuries.

The driver's employer immediately terminated his employment, stating that such behavior does not represent the company or the taxi profession. The Taxi Association of Paros also issued a statement condemning all forms of violence and apologizing to the victim and the community.

The driver has expressed regret for the incident but claims he did not initiate the conflict, alleging that the employee was verbally abusive and struck him first with a helmet. The case has been referred to the prosecutor for further legal action.
