Partido Colorado seeks to interpellate Minister Juan Castillo over port conflict
The Partido Colorado has announced plans to interpellate the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Juan Castillo, regarding the ongoing conflict at the Port of Montevideo. Deputy Adrián Juri stated that the proposal has gained consensus among opposition parties, including the Partido Nacional, Partido Independiente, Cabildo Abierto, and Identidad Soberana.
The move comes despite a recent preliminary agreement between the Terminal Cuenca del Plata (TCP) company and the labor union. The opposition seeks to address the prolonged port dispute alongside other national labor issues, such as conflicts in the meatpacking industry and various company restructurings. The formal request is expected to be presented next Tuesday, with the goal of holding the interpellation in October.
