Partiumi Magyar Napok celebrates 25th anniversary in Satu Mare

The 25th anniversary of the Partiumi Magyar Napok (Partium Hungarian Days) cultural festival has commenced in Satu Mare, Romania. The jubilee event opened at the Northern Theater with a co-production of Gogol’s ‘The Inspector General’, featuring collaboration between the Budapest National Theater, the Transcarpathian Hungarian Drama Theater, the Gyula Castle Theater, and the local Northern Theater.

To mark the quarter-century milestone, an exhibition showcasing the history of the event through archival photographs and memorabilia is being held at the theater. The festival program includes theatrical performances, film screenings, puppet shows, folk dance, and gastronomic presentations. Additionally, community events such as fairs, sports competitions, and concerts are scheduled to take place in the city's Kossuth Garden.

During the opening ceremony, György Rágyanszki, Deputy State Secretary for Minority Relations, emphasized that the festival serves as a celebration of shared memory and cultural cohesion across borders. Csaba Pataki, President of the Satu Mare County Council, noted the event's significance as a milestone for the local Hungarian community and its role in passing traditions to future generations.
