Partiumi Magyar Napok cultural festival

Overview

The 25th anniversary of the Partiumi Magyar Napok (Partium Hungarian Days) cultural festival began in Satu Mare, Romania. The jubilee opening featured a co-production of Gogol’s ‘The Inspector General’ at the Northern Theater, supported by several international theater groups. An exhibition of archival photographs and memorabilia was also established to mark the milestone.

As the festival continued, programming expanded to include religious and historical commemorations. On August 20, events centered on Saint Stephen's Day, featuring a Catholic mass and a wreath-laying ceremony. The schedule also incorporated puppet theater performances, musical events, and a historical comic book presentation titled ‘Vér hívta vért’ to honor the 700th anniversary of the birth of Louis I of Anjou.

The jubilee weekend in Szatmárnémeti featured a high volume of musical and family-oriented programming. Friday’s musical lineup included acoustic performances by Midnight Stories, jazz and folk fusion by Tárkány Művek, heavy metal from AKELA, and contemporary folk by Magyar Banda.

Saturday’s activities focused on community engagement through markets, gastronomic events, and family programs. The evening’s musical highlights included performances by Funkorporation and Balkan VIP, as well as the multi-platinum band Magna Cum Laude, who performed hits such as ‘Vidéki sanzon’ and ‘Pálinka Dal’.
