Partizánske: WWII ammunition discovered in abandoned home

A woman discovered World War II-era ammunition while cleaning out an old, uninhabited family home in the Partizánske district of Slovakia. Upon finding the items, she immediately contacted the police.

A pyrotechnic specialist from the Trenčín emergency police unit inspected the site and confirmed the presence of one Model 34 hand grenade and 27 pieces of 7.92×57 Mauser infantry ammunition. All discovered items were noted to be significantly corroded.

Police spokesperson Petra Klenková stated that the specialist took necessary safety measures and transported the munitions to a secure location for professional destruction. Authorities have issued a warning to the public to never handle similar objects, noting that even old ammunition can remain functional and dangerous. Citizens are advised to mark the location, keep their distance, and contact emergency services immediately if such items are found.
