Pasapalabra launches new final round “AlaZ” on Antena 3

Antena 3 has replaced the long‑standing “rosco” finale of the quiz show Pasapalabra with a new format called “AlaZ”. The change follows a legal dispute with rival Tele 5 over broadcast rights. AlaZ is played on a straight line from A to Z, with a second contestant moving in reverse; players can request an extra letter at the cost of five seconds, adding a strategic element.

In its first week, contestants Javier and David have produced evenly matched results. Javier secured the inaugural AlaZ win, finishing just two answers shy of the jackpot, while David has repeatedly hovered near the €700,000 prize. After a series of duels, the scoreboard shows two victories each and several ties, highlighting the heightened suspense and unpredictability introduced by the new rules.
