Pashinyan and Erdogan meet to discuss Armenia-Turkey normalization

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly to discuss the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey. The leaders emphasized the importance of advancing the normalization process, expanding trade and economic ties, and continuing work on the joint restoration of the historic Ani Bridge.

Pashinyan also addressed the importance of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stating that the two nations should work to institutionalize peace and respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He noted that there have been no deaths or injuries resulting from the conflict between the two countries for approximately two and a half years. Pashinyan expressed Armenia's readiness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in mine clearance.

A major focus of the discussions was the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project. Pashinyan highlighted the historic importance of TRIPP, which aims to establish new railway connections between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. This project is expected to create significant international logistics routes connecting China, Central Asia, Turkey, and the European Union.
