PASOK presents government program and prepares for elections

The PASOK political party is intensifying its regional presence and organizational preparations ahead of upcoming elections. In Trikala, party officials, including Giannis Vardakastanis and Manolis Christodoulakis, presented the party’s government program. The platform focuses on seven key pillars: addressing the cost of living, changing the production model, improving wages and labor rights, managing private debt, tackling housing and demographic issues, enhancing public health and education, and reforming state operations.

Specific economic proposals include increasing market oversight to combat price hikes, implementing an emergency tax on excess profits from monopolies, and temporarily reducing VAT on essential goods and fuel taxes. The party also aims to reduce household electricity costs by 20% by 2027 and 30% by the end of a four-year term.

In preparation for electoral contests, particularly in the Attica region, PASOK is finalizing its candidate lists. The party is seeking individuals with significant social and professional standing to appeal to broader urban audiences. Current MPs are considered de facto candidates, while the party continues to evaluate potential new members to strengthen its electoral reach.
