Greece political dispute over Recovery and Resilience Facility projects

A political dispute has emerged in Greece regarding the management of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and the 'Greece 2.0' program. PASOK-Kίνημα Αλλαγής, led by Pavlos Geroulanos, has criticized the government for de-funding over 100 projects. These include health initiatives for remote areas, digital education tools, social reintegration programs for vulnerable groups, and museum modernizations.

Minister of State Akis Skertsos responded by stating that the removal of projects from the RRF does not equate to their cancellation. He cited the Southern Cretan Motorway (VOAK) and the procurement of Canadair aircraft as examples of projects that will continue through alternative funding, such as the Public Investment Program or the European Investment Bank. Skertsos argued that the RRF is a financing mechanism with strict deadlines rather than a permanent list of projects.

In addition to the RRF debate, PASOK is preparing for the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and its September 3rd anniversary in Crete, focusing on issues like private debt. Meanwhile, controversy surrounds the licensing of private universities, with PASOK officials accusing the Ministry of Education of pre-empting official regulatory decisions.
