PASOK proposes 11-point plan for private debt and pension reform
PASOK has unveiled an 11-point proposal to address private debt in Greece, focusing on protecting primary residences and providing relief for debtors. The plan suggests that individuals could retain homes valued up to €200,000 for single persons and up to €320,000 for families of four, through long-term repayment plans of up to 35 years. Additionally, the party proposes a 120-installment plan for debts to the state, social security funds, and municipalities for obligations up to €500,000, where 30% of the debt could be forgiven upon successful completion of the plan.
In parallel, political tension has risen regarding widow's pensions. While the government announced the abolition of certain pension cuts, PASOK representatives criticized the move as a limited correction that fails to address the broader struggles of retirees. They have called for the restoration of EKAS, increases in pension replacement rates, and the return of the 13th pension.
Furthermore, PASOK has criticized the government's handling of relations with Turkey, arguing that the administration has underestimated Turkish provocations and failed to build strong alliances to protect national interests.
