Passkeys, a credential system that replaces traditional passwords with biometric or PIN verification, are being integrated by major tech companies such as Google, Apple and Microsoft. The technology stores encrypted credentials on devices and does not share them with websites, reducing phishing risk and the impact of large data‑breach leaks.

In parallel, routers now include QR‑code tags and physical WPS buttons that let users join Wi‑Fi networks without manually entering a password. Modern iOS and Android devices can scan the QR code to auto‑configure the network, while the WPS button creates a short‑lived pairing window for compatible devices.
