Pasto, Colombia carries out mass vaccination drive and honors caregivers

The municipality of Pasto organized a Third National Vaccination Day, administering 958 doses of vaccines. The effort involved 23 health service providers operating 25 extra‑municipal sites, with 55 vaccinators on the ground and 27 within health facilities. The most administered products were 617 influenza doses and 98 yellow‑fever doses, along with vaccines for HPV, measles‑rubella, tetanus, and others. Health Secretary Daniana de la Cruz highlighted the collaboration between the city administration, health institutions and the community in expanding coverage, noting that COVID‑19 vaccines were unavailable at the event.

In a separate ceremony marking the National Caregiver Day, the Pasto mayor's office, through the Social Welfare Secretariat, recognized around 250 caregivers. The event was coordinated by the Intersectoral Committee for the Municipal Care System together with partners such as UN Women, the Nariño Governor's Office and ICBF. Social Welfare Secretary Álvaro Zarama and ICBF regional contractor Jazmín Maya Josa addressed participants, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to supporting caregivers and promoting a caring, inclusive community.
