Pasuruan Regency to repair water pipes damaged by forest fires

The Pasuruan Regency government is initiating repairs to a 5.2 km water pipe network destroyed by forest fires on the slopes of Mount Arjuno and Mount Ringgit. To address the resulting clean water crisis, Regent Rusdi Sutejo has allocated Unforeseen Expenditure (BTT) funds to facilitate the reconstruction.

The project aims to replace the damaged infrastructure with thick iron pipes, a strategic choice intended to increase resilience against future forest fires. While physical reconstruction is scheduled to begin next week, the government is providing immediate relief through BPBD water tank fleets to support residents in heavily affected areas, specifically Jatiarjo and Dayurejo villages. Technical agencies are also inspecting water networks in the Tambaksari area to ensure broader community needs are met.
