Pasuruan water infrastructure damage from forest fires

Overview

Forest and land fires on the slopes of Mount Arjuno and Mount Ringgit have destroyed a water pipe network in Pasuruan Regency, causing a clean water crisis for residents in areas such as Jatiarjo and Dayurejo villages. The fires melted various PVC pipes, necessitating significant reconstruction.

To address the damage, Regent Rusdi Sutejo has allocated Unforeseen Expenditure (BTT) funds to replace the destroyed infrastructure with thick iron pipes designed to increase resilience against future fires. While physical reconstruction is scheduled to begin, the government is providing immediate relief through BPBD water tank fleets to support affected communities. Specific repair efforts include replacing 350 meters of 3-inch diameter pipe and 3,750 meters of 2-inch diameter pipe.
