Patisia shooting: 55-year-old man wounded in motorcycle attack
A 55-year-old man of Albanian origin was injured in an armed attack in the Patisia district of Athens during the early hours of Monday, September 7, 2026. The incident occurred around 04:55 at the intersection of Vroutou and Themu Anninou streets as the victim was leaving his home.
According to witnesses and police reports, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle approached the man and opened fire. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his lower limbs. After the shooting, the attackers fled the scene on the motorcycle. One witness reported seeing two individuals wearing helmets fleeing the area on foot after the initial attack.
Emergency services from EKAB arrived at the scene and transported the man to Georgios Gennimatas Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition and not in life-threatening danger.
Police investigators recovered three shell casings and one bullet at the scene. Authorities are currently reviewing security camera footage to track the suspects' route and are investigating various motives, including the possibility of a targeted settlement of accounts.
