Patos de Minas woman dies after head-on highway collision

Mônica Vieira de Andrade Fonseca, 62, died in Patos de Minas on Monday following a severe head-on collision on the BR-354 highway near the Chaves District in Rio Paranaíba. The accident occurred on Saturday involving a Toyota Hilux SW4 and a Ford EcoSport.

Emergency responders used specialized equipment to extricate Ms. Fonseca from the vehicle. Despite being stabilized by SAMU and transported to Hospital Nossa Senhora de Fátima, she succumbed to multiple traumas. Her husband, a 63-year-old physician, was also in the Hilux and sustained minor injuries and fractures. One occupant of the Ford EcoSport died at the scene. Civil Police technical experts are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
