Patras-Pyrgos motorway named Project of the Year 2025
The Patras-Pyrgos motorway has been named ‘Project of the Year 2025’ at the 9th Infrastructure and Transport Conference (ITC 2026) held in Athens. The award was granted following a combination of a public online vote, where the project received 44.2% of the votes, and unanimous support from a scientific committee of industry experts.
The award was accepted by representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the concessionaire Olympia Odos, and the APION KLEOS construction consortium, which includes TERNA, AKTOR, and AVAX. Deputy Minister Nikos Tachiaos noted that the project had a long and difficult journey, requiring political intervention to reintegrate it into the Olympia Odos concession.
Completed in approximately 3.5 years, the 75-kilometer controlled-access motorway features two lanes and an emergency lane in each direction, along with 15 bridges, nine interchanges, and 64 crossings. The project is recognized for its developmental impact and its role in enhancing safety and connectivity in Western Greece.
