Patras authorities launch operation to remove wild boars from Castritzi

The Patras Forestry Service, in collaboration with the Patras Hunting Club, is conducting an operation to remove wild boars from the area between Kato and Ano Castritzi. The action follows numerous complaints from local residents regarding damage to crops and concerns over road safety.

The operation, which began on Wednesday, September 16, involves hunting teams and is expected to continue from morning until evening as needed to ensure the animals are moved away from the residential zones. The Panachaiko mountain range serves as a natural habitat for these animals, but their increasing presence near inhabited areas has created significant local issues.

Authorities have requested police assistance to monitor the area and restrict public access to ensure safety, as the operation involves the use of firearms by hunting teams. Residents are strongly advised to avoid the active zones during the operation.
