On 11‑12 July 2026, Patras saw two separate fire incidents. A blaze erupted in the Plataní district near residential areas, prompting the deployment of ten fire engines and about 25 firefighters. The fire burned close to homes but did not threaten any houses.

Later the same day, a second fire broke out in an abandoned building of the old customs complex. Two fire engines and five firefighters tackled the flames, which originated in accumulated waste and were quickly brought under control. The building is slated for demolition in the coming autumn. Both incidents were managed by local fire services, and authorities are investigating the causes.
