Finland and Ukraine to launch joint drone production deal
Finland and Ukraine are finalizing a major defense agreement to launch joint production of drones and unmanned systems. Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that the production model will follow a ‘90/10 split,’ where 90% of the manufactured drones are destined for Ukraine and 10% will remain in Finland.
Several Finnish defense companies, including Patria, Insta, and Boomeranger, have signed memorandums of understanding with Ukrainian partners such as General Cherry. The cooperation aims to combine Ukrainian battlefield experience with Finnish technological expertise. The partnership covers multiple domains, including unmanned aerial vehicles, maritime systems, and ground robotic systems.
President Stubb emphasized that this initiative is a strategic industrial partnership rather than charity, noting that European and American partners can learn significant military and technological lessons from Ukraine’s current combat experience.
