Finland-Ukraine unmanned systems production partnership
Overview
Finland and Ukraine have entered into a strategic defense partnership to launch joint production of drones and unmanned systems. Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced a ‘90/10 split’ model, where 90% of manufactured drones are destined for Ukraine and 10% remain in Finland. The initiative aims to combine Ukrainian battlefield experience with Finnish technological expertise across unmanned aerial, maritime, and ground robotic domains.
As part of this cooperation, Finnish defense company Patria signed a Letter of Intent with the Ukrainian manufacturer Center of Unmanned Technologies LLC, also known as General Cherry. This specific partnership focuses on developing unmanned solutions for Western European defense, integrating General Cherry’s expertise in strike FPV, fiber-optic, and aerial-target interceptor drones with Patria’s industrial capacity and AI-driven technology.
