Patricia Bullrich's split from PRO fuels rift in Milei's Argentine government
Argentina’s Development Minister Hernán Lombardi confirmed that former PRO leader Patricia Bullrich has left the party and joined the libertarian bloc La Libertad Avanza, noting personal respect but stressing that the PRO retains its own institutional identity.
The departure coincides with a growing dispute between Bullrich, who heads the Senate bloc of La Libertad Avanza, and President Javier Milei’s administration. Bullrich refused to withdraw a judicial nomination linked to a journalist’s relative, exposing tensions over judicial appointments, internal power balances and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 elections. The clash highlights broader coordination challenges within the Milei coalition as it seeks to push through a wave of judicial and electoral reforms.
