Patriks Gailums wins bronze in javelin at European Athletics Championships

Latvian athlete Patriks Gailums won the bronze medal in javelin throw at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Gailums achieved his best throw of 82.97 meters during his third attempt, narrowly edging out fourth-place finisher David Vegner by just one centimeter.

Germany's Julian Weber took the gold medal with a throw of 90.40 meters, while Niks Tams secured the silver with 83.76 meters. This marks Gailums' fourth appearance at the European Championships, following previous finishes of sixth in 2022 and seventh in Rome.

Latvia was represented by seven athletes across four disciplines at the championships, including javelin throwers Anete Sietiņa and Krišjānis Suntažs, hammer thrower Valters Kreišs, 200-meter runner Oskars Grava, and walkers Raivo Saulgriezis and Modra Liepiņa.
