Pattaya Flash Floods Disrupt Roads after Heavy Rain
Heavy rain on the early morning of July 23, 2026 caused flash flooding across Pattaya, Thailand. Water levels rose between 10 and 70 cm, making a road that runs parallel to the railway from Soi Khao Talo to Soi Khao Noi impassable for motorcycles and passenger cars. The surge also affected sections of Sukhumvit Road and the Bueng Bypass, prompting municipal officials to install steel barricades and close the flooded stretch.
Local authorities reported that the floodwaters receded within about an hour, allowing traffic to resume. Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet highlighted ongoing upgrades to the city’s drainage system, noting that more than half of the 20 chronic‑flood hotspots have already been improved. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department warned that additional heavy rain is expected across Thailand from July 26‑30, urging residents to prepare for further flooding and rough seas.
