Pattaya and Banglamung hit by severe flooding after heavy rain
Torrential overnight rainfall has caused significant flooding across Pattaya and the Banglamung District in Chonburi province. Heavy downpours, exceeding 100 millimeters in some areas, overwhelmed local drainage systems, leaving many major roads submerged and making travel difficult for small vehicles and motorcycles.
In the Pacific Village housing estate in North Pattaya, flooding caused the collapse of concrete-block walls at two residences. Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyamon and Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet inspected the damage and distributed emergency relief supplies to affected households. The Mayor noted that while the city's drainage system typically handles 60–70 millimeters of rain daily, the recent persistent storms have exceeded these capacities.
City officials have deployed pumps at full capacity and dispatched teams to manage traffic and assist residents at high-risk locations. Authorities are currently surveying structural and personal property damage to determine eligibility for compensation under existing regulations.
