Patterson Point supportive housing complex opens in Goleta

The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara has officially opened Patterson Point, a new supportive housing complex in the Goleta Valley. The $23.7 million project consists of a two-story development on a half-acre of land, featuring 23 to 24 studio apartments designed to assist community members experiencing homelessness.

The facility includes a community center with a shared kitchen, a laundry room, gathering spaces, outdoor areas, and bike lockers. To ensure stability, residents pay 30% of their income toward rent and have access to on-site supportive services. The complex utilized modular components that were assembled in just two days.

During a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, residents shared the personal impact of the transition from living on the streets to having a permanent home. Facility management noted that while the site includes a parking lot, most tenants do not own vehicles; instead, services are provided to assist residents with errands and medical appointments.
