Pau Casals legacy celebrated with global 150th anniversary program

The Pau Casals Foundation and the Instituto Cervantes have launched ‘Casals 150: music for peace’, a global program featuring over 200 activities to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the musician's birth. Supported by the Spanish government and the Generalitat of Catalonia, the initiative aims to highlight Casals' legacy as both a premier 20th-century musician and a humanist dedicated to peace, democracy, and human rights.

Major events include a concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra in Madrid and activities across the Instituto Cervantes international network, such as an upcoming event in Rome. Locally, the National Assembly of Catalonia in Sant Feliu de Guíxols is also organizing a tribute on October 9 to honor both Casals and Antoni Gaudí, marking the 150th anniversary of the musician's birth and the centenary of the architect's death.
