Gary Glitter pleads not guilty to historic child sex offenses

Paul Gadd, the former glam rock star known as Gary Glitter, has pleaded not guilty to eight charges of historic sexual offenses in a London court. The 82-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court via video link from prison on Wednesday.

The charges involve a single complainant and relate to alleged abuse occurring between March 1978 and December 1981, when the victim was between eight and 11 years old. Prosecutors allege the offenses took place at Gadd’s home in the Kensington and Chelsea area of London. The specific counts include four counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, and two counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

Gadd described himself as “absolutely not guilty” to two of the charges before entering not guilty pleas for the remaining six. The investigation followed a report made to the Metropolitan Police in January 2025. Judge Tony Baumgartner has adjourned the proceedings, scheduling a three-week trial to begin on November 22, 2027. Gadd remains in custody pending the trial.
