Legal proceedings against Paul Gadd

Paul Gadd, the former British pop star known as Gary Glitter, is facing new charges of historic sex offences. In August 2026, Gadd appeared via videolink from prison at Westminster Magistrates' Court. He was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault occurring between 1978 and 1981 at his Kensington home. Gadd denied knowing the victim, who reported the abuse in 2025.

By September 2026, the case moved to Southwark Crown Court. Appearing via video link from prison, the 82-year-old Gadd pleaded not guilty to eight charges: four counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13. Gadd described himself as “absolutely not guilty” to two of the charges before entering not guilty pleas for the remaining six. The prosecution alleges the abuse occurred between March 1978 and December 1981 at Gadd’s home in the Kensington and Chelsea area, involving a single complainant who was between eight and 11 years old at the time.

Judge Tony Baumgartner has adjourned the proceedings, with a three-week trial scheduled to begin on November 22, 2027. Gadd remains in custody pending the trial.
