Paul Scholes urges Manchester United to sign Cristian Romero

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has urged his former club to attempt to hijack the transfer of Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero. Scholes suggested that the 28-year-old Argentine international possesses the qualities needed to bolster United's central defense, despite acknowledging his disciplinary issues.

Scholes described Romero as a “nutcase” and an “absolute clown” due to his unpredictable behavior, but argued that manager Michael Carrick’s calm demeanor could help stabilize the player. The former midfielder noted that Romero’s experience as a World Cup winner and his potential price tag of approximately £30 million to £40 million make him a compelling option to address United's defensive inconsistencies.

Romero is expected to leave Tottenham this summer. While Atletico Madrid is reportedly in talks to sign the defender, other clubs including Arsenal, Barcelona, and Inter Milan have also been linked to the player.
