Manchester United transfer targets Lewis Hall and Cole Palmer under scrutiny

Manchester United is facing scrutiny regarding its defensive depth following a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town. Legend Paul Scholes has urged the club to move quickly to sign Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall to bolster the backline, noting concerns over Luke Shaw’s performance. While Newcastle reportedly sought over £75 million for Hall, Manchester United is said to be playing a ‘long game’ with plans to potentially secure the player in 2027.

In addition to defensive concerns, speculation continues regarding Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. Scholes suggested Palmer, a childhood United fan, could eventually move to Old Trafford as a long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes.

Despite interest in various targets, Manchester United concluded the summer transfer window without signing a new left-back, leaving the club to rely on existing squad depth for the upcoming season.
