Paul Schrader to use AI for film after Black actors decline roles
Director Paul Schrader has announced that his upcoming film, ‘Three Guns At Dawn’, will be completely AI-generated. Schrader stated that the decision follows a lack of interest from Black actors to play the film's lead roles.
The characters in question include a corrupt police officer, a drug dealer, and a sexual deviant. Schrader noted in an interview with The Playlist that after sending the roles to actors, no Black performers wanted to participate in a project where there were ‘no good Black people.’
The film, which was originally intended to have Antoine Fuqua attached as a producer, will now utilize artificial intelligence to replace human actors. This move has sparked discussion regarding the use of AI to fill roles that performers of color have declined due to concerns over perpetuating racial stereotypes.
