Pauline Hanson protests cause Melbourne One Nation fundraiser cancellation

Anti‑racist groups rallied outside Pauline Hanson’s One Nation fundraisers in Perth and Melbourne in early June. In Perth, roughly 300 demonstrators, many in work uniforms, chanted “Migrants are welcome, racists are not” and held signs such as “Blame Billionaires, not migrants”. Hanson entered the venue through a back door while supporters were turned away.

In Melbourne, the Italian restaurant Giorgio Casa in Moonee Ponds cancelled the planned fundraiser after threats of protests were reported, though Victoria Police said no specific threats were known. The event was to feature speeches by Hanson and MP Barnaby Joyce. Similar anti‑racism protests were organized in other Australian cities. The cancellation highlights ongoing opposition to One Nation’s anti‑immigration platform.
