Rio Grande do Norte election: Cadu de Lula leads Allyson Bezerra in runoff poll

The runoff election for the government of Rio Grande do Norte is intensifying between Cadu de Lula (PT) and Allyson Bezerra (União Brasil). A recent DataVero/Diário do RN poll shows Cadu de Lula leading with 50.53% of valid votes, compared to 49.47% for Allyson Bezerra. Although the difference is within the 2.53 percentage point margin of error, the poll indicates Cadu has higher voter retention, with 94.78% of his first-round supporters maintaining their preference.

Allyson Bezerra has focused his campaign on fiscal reorganization, citing his administrative experience in Mossoró as a model for managing the state's complex finances. His campaign recently consolidated support in the capital, Natal, through an alliance with Mayor Paulinho Freire and the city's legislative bloc. However, this movement has also been marked by political shifts, including the replacement of previous campaign coordinators.

Cadu de Lula, the former Secretary of Finance, is positioning himself as a candidate focused on economic development and job creation. While he defends the legacy of Governor Fátima Bezerra, he claims to have a “DNA próprio” (own DNA) that will prioritize private sector engagement and social inequality reduction. His campaign is actively working to consolidate the electorate of President Lula within the state.
