Paulínia approves affirmative action for municipal technical courses

The Paulínia City Council has approved a project establishing affirmative action policies for municipal technical and professional high school courses at Etep and Cemep.

The new rules include reserved spots for people with disabilities and additional points for candidates who are Black, mixed-race, Indigenous, or Quilombola. Furthermore, students who have completed their entire basic education within the public school system will receive preferential scoring. The specific percentages for reservations and the methods for verification will be detailed in future selection notices. The measure also includes mechanisms to detect and combat potential fraud.

In a separate measure, the council approved a transfer of R$ 2.07 million to 57 Parent and Teacher Associations (APMs) within the municipal network, with funds distributed based on student enrollment. Additionally, a project was approved to create municipal support groups to assist individuals and families affected by gambling addiction.
