Municipal social and housing policy in Paulínia
Overview
The municipality of Paulínia has implemented several social and developmental initiatives. The City Council approved affirmative action policies for municipal technical and professional high school courses, establishing reserved spots for people with disabilities and preferential scoring for Black, mixed-race, Indigenous, or Quilombola candidates, as well as students from the public school system.
Following these educational measures, the city launched its first Municipal Housing Plan (PMH) to address housing deficits and support homeownership. Developed with technical assistance from the Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo, the plan was informed by public consultations and is set for deliberation by the City Council. Additionally, the municipal housing department has moved to contract 400 Minha Casa, Minha Vida apartments in Jardim Flamboyant for low-income families.
