Pavăl brothers expand international holdings in Switzerland and Greece
The Pavăl brothers, owners of the Romanian retail giant Dedeman, are expanding their international investment portfolio across Europe. In Switzerland, they have acquired the five-star Waldhaus Flims resort and are planning to expand the property. The expansion involves purchasing adjacent land for 4 million Swiss francs and demolishing an old curling arena to make way for new accommodation spaces and managed apartments.
In Greece, following their €125 million acquisition of the Praktiker DIY chain a year ago, the brothers are implementing significant operational changes. They plan to hire 100 new employees and increase wages above the legal minimum. New employee benefits include monthly food cards, private health insurance, and transportation assistance. The restructuring also includes changes to the Board of Directors, with Darius Pavăl joining the leadership team.
