Paysandu Sport Club wins legal battle over Yago Pikachu transfer claim
The Court of Pará has dismissed a lawsuit against Paysandu Sport Club seeking R$ 9.6 million in damages related to the former player Yago Pikachu. The ruling was issued by the 12th Civil and Business Court of Belém.
The lawsuit was filed by Big Sistemas de Segurança, Comércio e Serviços Empresariais Ltda., which claimed to have invested R$ 700,000 in the club in 2012. The company alleged that the investment granted them rights to a percentage of future transfer fees for the athlete. The plaintiff argued that in 2014, Paysandu obstructed a potential transfer to Goiás Esporte Clube, thereby preventing the company from receiving its share of the indemnity clause.
Judge Ivan Delaquis Perez ruled that the company failed to provide sufficient evidence that the transfer would have definitely occurred or that Paysandu’s actions were the direct cause of a lost payment. While the court acknowledged Goiás's interest in the player at the time, it determined that interest alone did not guarantee a payment of R$ 8 million. The decision is subject to appeal.
