Paysandu Sport Club legal dispute

Overview

The Court of Pará dismissed a lawsuit against Paysandu Sport Club regarding a claim for R$ 9.6 million in damages. The lawsuit, filed by Big Sistemas de Segurança, Comércio e Serviços Empresariais Ltda., alleged that the club obstructed a 2014 transfer of player Yago Pikachu to Goiás Esporte Clube to prevent the company from receiving a percentage of future transfer fees.

Judge Ivan Delaquis Perez of the 12th Civil and Business Court of Belém ruled that the plaintiff failed to provide sufficient evidence that the transfer would have definitely occurred or that the club’s actions directly caused a lost payment. The court noted that while Goiás showed interest in the player, interest alone did not guarantee a payment of R$ 8 million. The decision remains subject to appeal.
