PAZ Party Secures Accreditation to Run Independently in Tamaulipas 2027 Elections

The Instituto Electoral de Tamaulipas (IETAM) approved the accreditation of the PAZ political party, bringing the total number of parties eligible to register candidates for the 2027 local elections in Tamaulipas to eight, alongside Somos México. PAZ will contest the elections on its own, refusing any electoral alliance, and plans to field candidates for all 43 municipal mayoralties, 22 local districts and eight federal seats. Party representative David Valenzuela Barrios emphasized that PAZ is not a satellite of the national 4T project and will focus on its own agenda of security and prosperity for the state. IETAM indicated that the inclusion of PAZ and Somos México will be reflected through a redistribution of existing public‑financing resources, with no increase to the overall budget. PAZ claims a nationwide membership of roughly 300,000 supporters.
