Pécs hosts major music and arts festivals this September

The city of Pécs, Hungary, will host two major cultural festivals this September.

Zeneszüret, organized by Filharmónia Magyarország, will take place from September 15 to 20. The program includes street music competitions, theatrical productions, and family events. Notably, the Kodály Center will host the finals of the Liszt Ferenc International Piano Competition, an event held since 1933. This year, the competition moves from Budapest to Pécs, featuring young pianists from 24 countries across four continents. The event will be inaugurated by a solo performance from Olga Kern.

Pécsi Napok, a free multidisciplinary festival organized by Zsolnay Örökségkezelő, will run from September 23 to 27 at Sétatér. The festival features a diverse lineup, including dance performances by PTE Táncoló Egyetem and PEAC Cheerleading, musical acts such as Kéknyúl and the Pannon Filharmonikusok, and various community showcases ranging from K-Pop to rock’n’roll.
