PDI Perjuangan officials address 2029 election strategy and law revisions

PDI Perjuangan officials have indicated that the party has not yet formulated strategies for the 2029 General Election, noting that the event is still several years away. Andreas Hugo Pareira, head of the party's membership and organization division, stated that the timeline is too distant for current strategic focus. This comes following announcements regarding potential legislative candidates, including Kaesang Pangarep of the Solidarity Indonesia Party (PSI), who plans to run in Central Java's 5th electoral district—the same district where PDI Perjuangan leader Puan Maharani has historically contested. Puan Maharani noted that candidate selection for specific districts is the right of every political party.

Separately, the PDI Perjuangan faction has commented on the status of the Election Law revision, stating there has been no significant movement on the bill. Utut Adianto, head of the PDI Perjuangan faction, expressed the party's stance on the parliamentary threshold, emphasizing the importance of party sovereignty. While the party remains open to discussions regarding the threshold percentage, Adianto noted that the party hopes to remain included in collaborative political discussions with other parties.
