PDRN skincare ingredient gains popularity for skin regeneration

Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) is gaining prominence in the skincare industry for its ability to promote skin healing and restore elasticity. Due to its structural similarities to human DNA, the ingredient is used to facilitate cellular regeneration and recovery.

While traditionally extracted from salmon sperm, PDRN is increasingly being sourced from botanical alternatives, such as panax ginseng, to provide cruelty-free options. The efficacy of the ingredient depends heavily on molecular size; for deep cellular absorption, molecules should ideally be under 500 daltons. While raw PDRN remains on the surface, processed fragments allow for better skin penetration.

Beyond facial skincare, PDRN is being integrated into haircare to potentially stabilize conditions like androgenetic alopecia and promote regrowth. In cleansing products, such as the Medicube Jelly to Foam cleanser, PDRN is being paired with other actives like LHA to provide hydration and gentle exfoliation during the first step of a skincare routine.
