Peacock names Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer as showrunners for ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’

Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer have been named co-showrunners for Peacock’s live-action television adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s bestselling LitRPG series, ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’.

Yost, who was previously attached as a writer and executive producer, brings experience from ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Star Wars Rebels’, and Marvel’s ‘Thor’ films. Heisserer, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter for ‘Arrival’ and former showrunner for Netflix’s ‘Shadow and Bone’, joins the creative team to lead the straight-to-series project.

Author Matt Dinniman is serving as an executive producer. Dinniman has emphasized the importance of the creative team understanding the source material, noting that he required those working on the adaptation to be familiar with the books. He indicated that the series will not be a page-for-page adaptation, as the scope of the novels would require multiple seasons to cover entirely.
