Crimson Desert May Reach Nintendo Switch 2, Pearl Abyss Says Port Still Faces Technical Hurdles
Pearl Abyss CEO Huh (Heo) Jin‑young confirmed that the studio is evaluating a Nintendo Switch 2 version of its open‑world action‑RPG Crimson Desert. The team has a playable build that allows basic gameplay on the new console, but the developer stresses that the port is not a simple conversion. Maintaining the game’s graphics, combat fidelity and open‑world experience on Switch 2 requires extensive optimisation, frame‑rate stability, texture resolution and other technical checks.
No launch date has been announced. Pearl Abyss said it will continue technical verification and will assess partnership options before committing to a release schedule. The company also noted that the game has sold more than six million copies worldwide, underscoring the commercial incentive to broaden platform availability.
In parallel, the studio addressed fans’ questions about multiplayer and mod support. Both are under internal review but are not yet confirmed, as adding multiplayer would involve server architecture, balance and platform‑specific stability work.
