Crimson Desert DLC delay and regional restrictions

Overview

Pearl Abyss continues to expand Crimson Desert’s post‑launch service model. Following the release of ‘Crimson Desert Enhanced’ (version 2.0), the studio has announced the first major paid DLC expansion, titled ‘Charting the Unknown’. Originally scheduled for a global release on October 15, 2026, the expansion has been delayed by two weeks to October 29, 2026. Pearl Abyss stated the delay is necessary to “deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience” and noted that the frequency of free updates has been reduced to prioritize this content.

In preparation for the expansion, Pearl Abyss released update 2.03.00, which improved Nvidia DLSS Ray Reconstruction technology, enhanced the Water Stride ability, and addressed various bugs regarding combat and NPC positioning. The studio also provided in-game silver to players restarting their playthroughs. Amidst these technical updates, ‘Crimson Desert Enhanced’ received industry recognition, earning nominations for ‘PC Game of the Year’ and ‘Best Soundtrack’ at the 44th Golden Joystick Awards.

The expansion will introduce maritime exploration, underwater gameplay, ship captaining, and new narrative elements involving characters Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. It also aims to deepen social and management systems through improved housing, facility leasing, and enhanced NPC relationship-building, including the ability to marry certain characters. To celebrate the launch, a two-week Twitch Drops event will offer free in-game items.

The DLC is priced at approximately 24.99 EUR (or $24.99) and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. However, due to age rating requirements, ‘Charting the Unknown’ will remain unavailable in certain markets, including parts of the Middle East such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

Claims

What the coverage asserts, and how many sources carry each claim.

Coverage disagrees

Sources make claims that cannot both be true. CLSTR reports the disagreement; it does not decide who is right.

  • "The DLC is scheduled for release on October 15, 2024."

    vs

"The first paid downloadable content (DLC) for Crimson Desert Enhanced is scheduled for release on October 16."

The DLC cannot be scheduled for release on October 16 and October 15 simultaneously.

  • "The new release date for the DLC is October 29 or October 30, depending on the time zone."

    vs

"The first paid downloadable content (DLC) for Crimson Desert Enhanced is scheduled for release on October 16."

The DLC cannot be scheduled for release on October 16 and also on October 29 or 30.

  • "The new release date for the DLC is October 29 or October 30, depending on the time zone."

    vs

"The DLC is scheduled for release on October 15, 2024."

The DLC cannot be scheduled for release on October 29/30 and October 15 simultaneously.

    vs

    "The DLC is scheduled to launch on October 30." pizzafria.ig.com.br · www.gamespark.jp · www.invenglobal.com

While both suggest late October, the specific date of October 30 contradicts the range of October 29 or 30 depending on time zone if they are intended as distinct conflicting reports.

  • "The DLC is scheduled for release on October 15, 2024."

    vs

    "The DLC is scheduled to launch on October 30." pizzafria.ig.com.br · www.gamespark.jp · www.invenglobal.com

The DLC cannot be scheduled for release on October 15 and October 30 simultaneously.

  • "Crimson Desert Enhanced has reached 6 million copies in cumulative global sales."

    vs

"Crimson Desert has sold over 5 million copies within 26 days of its debut."

The game cannot have sold 5 million copies and 6 million copies as the primary reported sales figure for the same milestone context.

  • "Crimson Desert Enhanced has reached 6 million copies in cumulative global sales."

    vs

"Crimson Desert sold over 6 million copies within 83 days of its global release."

The claim of 6 million cumulative sales contradicts the claim of 6 million sales within a specific 83-day window if the totals or timeframes are meant to represent different states of the same metric.
