Overview

Pearl Abyss continues to expand Crimson Desert’s post‑launch service model. By early June, the game had sold over six million copies in 83 days, topped the U.S. 2026 sales chart and generated roughly $179 million in revenue.

Following a series of updates that introduced pet limits, house decoration, and a revamped trading system, Patch 1.17 addressed technical issues including challenge‑progress tracking, quick‑slot handling, helmet effects, and localization errors. Pearl Abyss has confirmed that a paid story-based DLC expansion is in development for late 2026. During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, the studio announced ‘Crimson Desert Enhanced’ (version 2.0), a major free update designed to refine the narrative experience through new cinematic cutscenes, additional dialogue, and expanded story moments. This update also introduces five new voice-over languages—German, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese—alongside Arabic subtitle and UI support. Furthermore, the update will provide new skills for the protagonist, Kliff, and a reworked skill progression system. The update aims to address previous criticisms regarding narrative flow and character depth by adding new knowledge entries, items, and memory fragments to better connect characters and boss backgrounds.

To celebrate the Enhanced version, the studio is offering its first launch-era discount of 20% on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, Steam, and the Epic Games Store through September 9. Additionally, the game received nominations for the Gamescom Awards 2026 in the ‘Most Epic’ and ‘Best PC Game’ categories. Regarding platform expansion, the studio is targeting a Nintendo Switch 2 release for the first half of 2027, noting the project has reached a “playable baseline.”
