Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert sees major updates following 6 million sales
Six months after its March release, the open-world action-adventure game ‘Crimson Desert’ has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 6 million copies and becoming one of the top sellers on Steam this year.
Despite its sales success, the title initially faced criticism regarding its excessive length, high difficulty, lack of player guidance, and unconventional controller layouts. In response, South Korean developer Pearl Abyss has released a series of updates to address these concerns.
Key improvements include more intuitive controls and a revised difficulty system that offers more accessible progression while maintaining challenges for experienced players. Technical updates have also improved draw distance for better visual immersion in the Pywel territories. Additional content added through patches includes new inventory items, mounts, skills, improved puzzles, legendary pets, mini-games, and more boss fights.
